La Voz en Breve: Mariel Fiori on Education and Family

This week in La Voz en Breve, journalist Mariel Fiori has a show on education and family. I spoke with the child psychologist, Merche Becerra Gordo about all the changes that have occurred in families during the quarantine of three months, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and how to help the little ones. Susie Ximenez invites all young immigrants who want to attend college to sign up for the free Adelante program that will offer $500 to participant and a laptop to anyone who needs it. Registration expires this Saturday, June 20. More information and registration here.

In addition, Diana López gave us updates about the organization Nobody Leaves the Mid-Hudson. NLMH has just raised $337,000 to complete the organization's work, such as making calls for elections and census registration, providing meals and buses for manifestations, as well as supporting legislations such as, health insurance for all, housing and against evictions. NLMH offers youth internships during the Summer and Fall, Monday through Thursday from 2 to 7 p.m., with training on how make phone calls and learn to facilitate meetings. More information here. "Police brutality also affects us, including ICE and racial profiling when they stop you in your car," said Lopez.

NLMH acaba de recaudar $337,000 para completar el trabajo de la organización, como llamadas por las elecciones y censo, comidas y buses para movilizaciones, y apoyo a legislaciones como: seguro médico para todos, viviendas y contra el desalojos. Tienen pasantías para jóvenes durante el verano y el otoño, de lunes a jueves de  de 2 a 7pm, se da entrenamiento para hacer llamadas telefónica y aprender a facilitar reuniones.
