Raising Awareness of Prostate Cancer, Sexual Assault, and Mud in the Creek

This week in La Voz en Breve, journalist Mariel fiori has a show on  politics and health. She spoke with Karen and Luis Abramson from the Cultivate Healing Services and Justice Initiative about the importance of getting screened for prostate cancer.

In their Justice for Everyone column with the Workers’ Justice Center, Cassy Bocanegra and her mother Mia Bocanegra from Mujeres Divinas spoke about raising awareness about sexual assault and the Pañuelo Project to support women who work in agriculture and low-wage industries.

There is a mass of mud thrown into the Lower Esopus stream from the Ashokan Reservoir that affects the ecosystem and local businesses. Sebastian Pilliteri, River Keeper Community Science Coordinator, explained the problem and what we can do about it.

In addition, journalist Amy Goodman examined the case of George Floyd and Cariol Horne and the duty of police officers to intervene in cases of police brutality.
